- Omnibus Restricts FCC Action Regarding LightSquared (Dec 19) The Consolidated Appropriations Act for FY 2012 includes the language previously adopted in the House version of the financial services appropriations bill. The language prevents the FCC from removing the conditions imposed on LightSquared operations until the FCC resolves concerns of potential widespread harmful interference to GPS devices. More...
- GPS Program Appropriations Finalized (Dec 19) The Consolidated Appropriations Act for FY 2012 (H.R. 2055) funds the GPS program within DoD at $1.473 billion, $11 million above the President's request. Congress added funds to GPS IIF and cut funds from GPS III and OCX. The act also rescinds $122.5 million in FY 2011 funds for GPS III. H.R. 2055 currently awaits the President's signature, along with the defense authorization act that Congress passed last week. More...
